What is an Alano Club? #MACFAQs  🤔

By its own traditions, a 12 Step group cannot finance or lend its name to any outside organization. As a result, "clubhouses" for recovering alcoholics sprung up in the 1930s, not long after AA was founded. At first, they were called "24-Hour Clubs," and they were founded and operated by recovering alcoholics separate from AA. These places gave recovering people and their families a way to meet new people and have fun without drinking. They quickly became known as "AA's second miracle."

These clubhouses offer a "safe haven" for newcomers, recovering people who are traveling, and also serve as a social hub for the local recovery community. There are thousands of recovery clubs around the world, and Alano Clubs are the most common.

What each Alano Club has to offer is a little different. Most of them have a place for recovery groups, meeting with a sponsor or trusted friend, and having fun. People in every stage of recovery and their families and friends find It is a place of hope for those who are suffering from the effects of addiction. It's a place to go when afraid, lonely, or even just bored. Most of all, a place where vital connections happen and miracles of healing occur.
